Worth it.
Reading glasses are the bane of my existence. I've worn glasses since I was 4 years old and got gas permeable contacts when I was 16. My contacts deal with an astigmatism and I see (distance-wise) much better with my contacts than when I wear glasses. But as I've aged, my near vision has gone down the crapper, and I find that I can't see anything small without help. I've tried so many pairs of reading glasses, and even begged my eye doctor to prescribe a lens so I could get real, well made readers with quality lenses. No such luck. But I've finally found reading glasses that I actually LIKE. These Foster Grant Multifocus glasses are great! First, the lens itself is the closest to a "real" lens than I've every encountered: it's not dingy, foggy and dark which is the case with other cheap readers. There's no distortion, pockets of waviness or other distracting optical aberrations. My eyes don't feel stressed after wearing them for extended periods. I really love this particular design, as well. Originally I bought a pair of wire rimmed readers but that style has the hinged nose piece, which is fine when you're wearing them, but if I put them on top of my head (like so many of us do when we want to keep them handy but need to look to the distance), the hinge would tangle in my hair. I'd look silly untangling them, it would leave my hair a mess, and worst of all, pull out clumps of hair. This style looks good - they're big enough to cover the eye but aren't silly looking. I like that they cover the whole eye - I'm not tempted to look over them, which I think makes me look older. They have a nice weight, but they're light but feel well made. Speaking of well made... I've had these glasses for a couple of months, and a while ago I managed to put a stack of textbooks down on top of them. The one ear piece was badly bent but I was able to just bent it back into place. Honestly, they should have been goners as soon as it happened, and I kept waiting for them to actually break, but it took more than 5 weeks. I just ordered 2 more pairs, one for home and one for school. They're expensive, but well worth it.

Since You Asked
This is my 3rd pair of the same glasses...at progressively stronger powers. Lost one pair and the second pair snapped off at the hinge (no fault to the manufacturer). A bit more scratch resistant than some of the other 'off the rack' trifocals I have utilized. A good quality option for those of us with matching magnification needs in both eyes. Reasonably priced item. I bumped up the power for some more recent close up work. Its a tighter fit for those of us with wide profile skull. Attractive design on the right backdrop :) WARNING: You may notice the need for more topical moisturizers, facial waxing, root touchup, household dusting and all around tidy-up while wearing these specks :)

Finally, someone had this idea!
I was so excited when Foster Grant came out with multifocal glasses. I like wearing contacts but need strong readers and can't stand peering over the usual kind. So I've been having my eye doctor make them up special for me, which costs a lot. Of course, there I get a better choice of frames. But it's worth the savings to get these. I'm not big into the dark, thick look, but they work. And they are VERY comfortable. The only con is that they are very fragile. I broke them pretty quickly, but that's my fault. I should have kept them in a case and not just dump them in my purse.

Loved the lenses but way too much money for 1 ...
Frames broke 3 days after the 30-day return window!!!! :( Cheap frames. Loved the lenses but way too much money for 1 month of wear!!!! I've gotten more wear out of readers from the dollar store! Very disappointed!!!!!

Quality is great and the vision is awesome
Recently had eye surgery in both eyes. Needed glasses to read and work on computer without continuous switching of glasses. I found the miracle pair. Multi-focus and durable. Quality is great and the vision is awesome. Worth the money. Would recommend purchasing if you're looking for a par of inexpensive progressives

Great. Better than my percription glass
I had Lasix 18 yrs ago for astigmatism near sighted. I have a prizim come back in one eye. Could not get bifocals right. These multi focus are the best. Suggest getting a little stronger than what's needed if you want to read computer monitor about arms length away.

Great while they lasted; more fragile than they appear
I wouldn't have expected to be posting a sub-par review for these, as I loved them until two different pairs spontaneously broke. The first pair lasted a decent length of time, about ten months. But the second lasted six weeks. The frame of each just suddenly cracked open around the eyepiece, releasing the lens, as the glasses sat on my face untouched. It would seem something had impacted them at another time, however neither pair was ever subjected to anything besides sitting on my face, or sitting on my desk or nightstand undisturbed. I never put them on top of my head, or hooked them onto my shirt, or carried them off my face. I just don't get it. I have one pair left, that my mom tried and didn't like, but I'm back in the market for a different brand before these crack up too. I don't trust going anywhere for periods of many hours without carrying a pair of backup glasses, and that's a deal breaker. FYI, they all felt comfortable (I'm a fan of this 'uni-nosepiece' type), but the third pair I'm wearing now sit a tad lower and give me a deep line across the top of my nose, whereas the others didn't. Back when first discovering these, I started with my normal 2.0, but that didn't seem strong enough in these, or maybe I just needed a larger field of the higher strengths. So 2.5 was perfect, and the lower-strength tops were as well, since I need a little distance correction too. The style grew on me and I had been very happy with these all-around. UPDATES: This lower-resting third pair I have left did start to bother me a little across the bridge. That's particularly unfortunate, because while I did find another brand of multi-focals that work great and are comfortable and sturdy, I now realize that this Foster Grant style covers my crow's feet much better! ;-)

You can read and walk at the same time
What a relief! These glasses have glass in the top so I can walk and drive, while reading with the 2.5 script in the bottom. No longer do I have to put them on and off just to read! I like the color and the feel
