The Heart of Faerie Oracle (Book & Cards)

I just received this deck today, though I ordered it quite a while ago. Not the fault of anyone other than the US Postal Service. In fact, the day I got the deck in the mail, I went to a local bookstore and bought the deck, thinking I would return the other deck if it ever showed up. My town's post office told me it was lost. When I got home from the bookstore with the new deck, there was the one I ordered from Amazon! I now have two. So I can't help but think that the Faeries are messing with me and having quite a laugh over this and my incredible impatience. I decided to find a friend to take the other deck because it's just too good to return. This deck is beautiful, magikal, and right on. I took them out of the box and did a reading for someone and it was perfect for her question. It was very easy for me to connect with the cards. This deck is a little simpler to use than their first deck, though that one has been my favorite oracle type deck. Since I read professionally, I'm going to study these cards, because as the previous review says, reading what is written in the book really does take it much deeper, though you don't necessarily have to memorize the definitions. I hope to bring this amazing wisdom to my clients. This deck fills in where traditional Tarot stops...and it also encourages your own connection with the Faeries and your own inner guidance. A great deck, highly recommended. Oh, I should also point out that the art is amazing, though that is a given!

Ever since 1981, I have always believed in the faeries and their unseen world after reading Brian Froud's original Faeries. This oracle brings me full circle to the real "magic kingdom". This deck lets one experience a reading from faerieland. The art is stunning! The backs are strong offering reversals if preferred. The organization of the deck is not based on tarot. Its quite original, with a few wild cards thrown in for you, the reader to deal with. The deck is playful and welcoming. The meanings are for you to interpret. If you need a solid reference, there is the handy hardcover book, carefully written by Wendy Froud. Each card get the rational meaning for those who need it. She handles it skillfully, without giving credit to the otherwordly inspirations. Yes, some of the meanings are harsh. The faeries arent always kind and gentle, often times mischievious and troublesome. I like her writing and have little doubt that a good reader would have a problem with the set. It works for beginners, simply for the fact that anyone using this deck is beginning, myself included. I love learning this new system, which challenges and teaches me about someplace I have never considered before-my own heart, where the faeries have always lived!

Quite honestly, I've not had a lot of time, yet, to really explore this book or the deck of cards. However, from what I've read and from flipping through the deck, I'm pleased. The text is much simplified from the previous 'The Faery Oracle Cards', which may be good or bad, I don't know yet. However, the cards are even more gorgeous, if that's possible. I really loved reading the large book 'The Heart of Faerie', which I found to be lush and informative. I actually bought this current book/deck for a friend's birthday (since she has no Froud products but has enjoyed all of mine). The box arrived unsealed and slightly squashed and I hesitated to give it to her in that condition. Was it truly new? It was supposed to be. So, I ordered a second deck so that I would have one. The second deck also arrived unsealed (no celophane) but unsquashed (which is the version I'll give her). Why no celophane? Notwithstanding, I expect I'll enjoy this deck and that my friend and I will have great fun exploring our decks when we go on retreat next month, to the place where we first got turned on to the world of Froud. A place filled with spirits of nature: Breitenbush Hot Springs.

Oh I love this so much! I am a huge fan of Brian and Wend Froud and try and collect as much stuff as I can of their. I just love the everything ( except one thing) about this! The cards are beautiful, the price was amazing, the book is perfect and very much like the Fairy Oracle. My only complaint it the same as the other reviews- the card quality is very disappointing. I guess they took a shortcut to keep the price down, but the cards are pretty thin and flimsy. They are about have the thickness of the Fairy Oracle set if you have that for comparison. Everything else about it is so perfect I would feel bad giving it 5 start. I also knew the card would be thin when purchasing so I am still very satisfied. There are a lot of cards in here that relate/ remind me of his Labyrinth characters- so that was really fun. This is a great addition to any collection- I highly recommend!

I knew the artist's work and liked it, which was the main reason I purchased this. The other reason is because earlier this year, I had a reading with a psychic, and at one point in the reading, she giggled and told me that I have a lot of fairies around me. I asked her about that and she assured me they meant me no harm, but that they just enjoyed being around me. I was surprised, but I liked the idea. I'm an artist, so I thought maybe that was why. The first time I chose a card, I was surprised at the wisdom in the book, and more surprised at the appropriateness of the cards matching my current mood. I like to sit quietly and gently shuffle them until I feel drawn to a particular card. I do this until I have chosen three, then I read the meaning of each card in the order drawn, and I find it helps me to understand where I'm at and it makes me feel better. I find these to be magical, and the artwork is wonderful! I highly recommend them if you are into this sort of thing.

フラウド夫妻の作品。極めて緻密で不思議な魅力を持つタロットカード68枚の画像はご主人のブライアン、本のカード解説は奥さんのウェンディによるもので、箱入りの本品2千円以下は安いと思います。カードは手に取って見ると分かりますが、画像が非常にきれいです。本は「はじめに」「序論」「カードの使い方」「カードについて」「本文＝カードを7組に分類し、各カードに1頁づつの解説」「フラウド夫妻とのインタビュー」その他の構成になっており、全く知らない人でも、これ一冊で妖精とタロットカードの背景までよく分かります。 仕事を引退して時間がありますので、私的に全部翻訳し、『妖精の神託の奥義』としました。副題は『妖精の知恵が人生と諸関係を変容させる方法』です。解説担当のウェンディさんは直観のままに勢いで書かれたようで、解説文の矛盾が大きい所だけでも数箇所あり（星一つ減点）、そこは超訳するしかなくて苦労しました。最初は画像を入れずにB6判で124頁、40日かかりました。その後、画像を組み込み、A5判で146頁。両面コピーし（このサイズの両面印刷用紙は入手に苦労）、たこ紐で製本したら結構良いのができました。やはり日本語は楽で、毎日カードを引いて楽しんでいます。 人間の素晴らしい能力である夢を見る力は想像力であり創造力であって（カードNo. 63 THE DREAMING）、私たち自身の中にある妖精の国（フラウド夫妻とのインタビュー）はこの想像力を通して接触でき、そこに住む妖精とコンタクトして生きる知恵をもらうというもの。読んでいてフラウド夫妻には実際に妖精が見えているのが感じられました。妖精界と直にコンタクトしていると言ってもいいでしょう。 妖しい感じは全くなく、明るくてまじめ。心の深い部分に響く示唆に富んでいて、現役で日々悩みながら生きている私たちにはとても助けになる内容です。少し紹介しましょう。カードNo. 1では、「魂の深みから湧き上がるような巨大な悲しみが突然襲ってきたら…感情のバランスを取り戻す助けに…」、 No. 4「昼の女王…あなたは祝福されたのです…」、No. 5「移行はサレンダーの瞬間…」、No. 32「やれる限界があるという思い込みを外したとき」、No. 53「その日を祝福できれば、お返しに祝福が来ます」、No. 62「闇に絶望する妖精…彼女の上を舞っている小さな妖精は希望…」、No. 65「戻るのは家に帰ることですが…遥かに深い意味を持つ地点に戻る」。 現象を実在と見て、その只中で悩み生きている人たちへの日々の生活のアドバイスであって、例えば中国の思想家の荘子にある達観や、悩みも無明の迷いに過ぎないとする禅・仏門の悟りとは程遠いですが、人間関係で苦労する私たちには、妖精たちの知恵は確かに励みになります。ちょっと変わった世界からのアドバイス集ですが、妖精にはピンと来ない方々にもお勧めできる好著だと思います。

j'ai reçu mon oracle aujourd'hui , j'ai pas trop apprécier la boite d'emballage décoller sur un bord ,le carton de colis peut crever sur un bord .je pense que plus de soins devrais être apporter au colis même petit, sans mettre bien la pression au salarié de votre entreprise . sinon , l'oracle est magnifique comme sur la photo , par contre les cartes ne sont pas dans un sachet de rangement elles sont toutes mise dans un compartiment avec un papier autour. correspond parfaitement à mes attentes, il parle de la wicca et de l'ancienne religion , qui sont représenter sur toutes cartes .très beau dessins .vraiment bravo à ceux qui l'on conçus. je le recommande qui sont intéresses par ces thèmes.

Mi è arrivato oggi, il libro e le carte sono contenute in uno scatolino a parte molto ben imballato, è arrivato tutto perfetto. La maggior parte dei disegni delle carte non si trovano da nessun altra parte, bellissime! Il libro contiene la spiegazione di ogni carta e il modo in cui utilizzarle e al suo interno contiene anche qualche altro disegno. La carta utilizzata per le pagine è meravigliosa, quel genere di carta che sembra quasi antica, di un panna sporco e molto sottile. Sono contenta dell' acquisto :) Poi per chi, come me, è un amante del grande Brian Froud.. è imperdibile e apprezzerò sicuramente! Lo consiglio, assolutamente 5 stelle!!

Auf dieses Kartendeck trifft vieles zu, was ich schon zu dem unerreichten The Faeries' Oracle geschrieben habe: Wer hier ein Naturgeister-Feen-Elfen-Orakel à la Doreen Virtue erwartet, wird bitter enttäuscht. Dieses Orakel, das teilsweise recht düster und englisch-herb rüberkommen kann, ist weit entfernt davon, ein nettes Wellness-Spielzeug zu sein. Es ist vielmehr eine lebendige, lebende und respektvoll zu behandelnde Brücke zu Faery, der Anderswelt, und eh man's sich versieht, verschwimmen die Grenzen und Faery schwappt in den diesseitigen Alltag herein. Dieses zweite Deck von Brian Froud ist allerdings nicht eine Erweiterung, sondern vielmehr eine Ergänzung zu seinem Erstling. So liegt der Fokus von Heart of Faery auf der Beziehung - den zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, der Beziehung zwischen Faery (der Anderswelt) und den Menschen, der Beziehung eines jeden zu sich selbst. Entsprechend anders zeigen sich die Gruppen, in die sich die Wesenheiten hier gliedern: da gibt es die Königinnen, die die verschiedenen Aspekte des Weiblichen verkörpern, und es gibt ihre Gefährten, die die unterschiedlichen Aspekte der Beziehung zwischen Männlich und Weiblich ausdrücken. Auch hier gibt es die Gruppe der Archetypen - die Alte, der Zauberer, der Held, usw. - hier jedoch treten die Fae als "göttliche Paare", Lord und Lady, die jeweils maskuline und feminine Energie, die in allem enthalten ist. Dann gibt es eine Gruppe von "Sprites" - Kobolde, Wichte, oder Elfen - Helferwesen, die frech, aber nie bösartig daherkommen, die Gruppe der Ladies, unberechenbarer und persönlicher als die Königinnen, und zuletzt eine Gruppe, die "die Reise" heißt, und wie es die Große Arkana des klassisschen Tarot tut, die Stadien der Lebensreise beschreiben... hier jedoch auch die Reise in die Anderswelt und wieder zurück. Ich empfinde dieses zweite Faery-Deck als geordneter, als gewissermaßen zielgerichteter, direkter. Während das Faeries' Oracle das Tor zu Faery öffnet und uns diejenigen Wesen treffen lässt, die gerade eien Botschaft haben, fühle ich in Heart of Faery die Wichtigkeit eines Entwicklungsweges, eben der zuletzt genannten "Reise" zu uns selbst. Entsprechend kann man die beiden Orakel einzeln für deise unterschiedlichen Fragestellungen benutzen. Ich selbst benutze die Decks gemischt, wobei irritieren kann, dass dann einige Karten doppelt zu sein scheinen: so gibt es in beiden Decks auf der sowohl Karten mit identischen Titel, wie The Maiden oder The Green Lady, deren Botschaften sich zwar überschneiden, aber nicht decken, als auch Karten mit derselben Botschaft, die von total unterschiedlichen Wesen vermittelt werden. Wie der Vorgänger ist das Begleitbuch ein schön gestaltetes, stabiles Hardcoverbuch, das viele Anregungen sowohl zur Benutzung der Karten als auch Interpretationsvorschläge als auch Hintergrundwissen enthält. Verfasst wurden die Texte hier von Brian Frouds Frau Wendy (besser bekannt oder besser, unbekannt!, als die Schöpferin von Puppen wie z.B. Yoda aus StarWars!) und wenngleich weder an der Tatsache noch an den Texten an sich etwas auszusetzen ist, irritiert mich dieser Wechsel - so wie es irritiert, wenn in deiner Lieblingsfernsehserie die Hauptperson auf einmal die Synchronstimme wechselt. Auch macht Wendy, im Gegensatz zu Jesa Mcbeth, der Autorin des Faeries' Oracle Beibuches, keine Unterschied zwischen reguläten und auf dem Kopf stehenden Karten. Um jetzt zu einem Schluss zu kommen: ein tolles, humorvoll aber dennoch ernstzunehmendes Deck, das für sich genommen ebenso "funktioniert" wie als Ergänzung zu seinem Vorgäner/Partner-Orakel. Ich empfehle es dringend weiter :-)
