Would this work with a very sharp root knife?

Not really sure what you’re asking as far as working with a root knife. The nice thing about these gloves is they fit snug enough that you can easily use your hands to garden. The gloves don’t interfere.

Is the large a woman's large or a man's large? I have large hands for a woman but not big enough for man's size large.

I believe they would be a ladies large. I ordered small and medium/ they were definitely ladies sizes.
