Best wood sealer for ends of logs and milled lumber.
Exactly what I wanted. Anchorseal is the best wood sealer I’ve found. It dries clear, so you won’t even know it’s on there once it dries. Good quality and fast shipping. I highly recommend this seller and this product!

Excellent product; I’d heard it was widely loved- now I know why
I’d heard it was widely loved- now I know why: it seals wood well for slow drying with much less issues (cracking); easy to apply - I like to use disposable 4” rollers. Drys clears looks good. Water beads on it (yea: water resistant). Functions as expected.

Real Deal
Quick and works great. Seals log end, dries to solid, doesn't ever get brittle or crack.

This is the right way to prevent lumber checking
I'd been told that latex paint on the ends of logs and flitches (slabs) wouldf be good enough to prevent checking. Unfortunate advice that cost be quite a few board feet of what would have been beautiful, wide maple. Anchorseal applies easily, and does a very good job of limiting the excess moisture loss throught the board or log end that will ruin your wood. No idea about cleanup; I just use an old brush that I keep in a ziploc. I've gone through two gallons with the same $2 brush.

Seals end grain
Does a good job sealing end grain when applied fairly heavy. Works but it seems a little pricey.

A new "Go To" for sealing wood.
Having utilized the Anchorseal 2 sealer for 20+ years, I was hesitant to try the original. I was convinced by the price comparison of the Original at $114 for 5 gallons versus Anchorseal 2 for $42 per gallon. Well it is a bit early to see how this will work for the long term but I was pleasantly surprised with my first group of wood using the Anchorseal Original. I rescued a large cedar tree that was being cut down but was completely out of sealer. (Yes, I do use a lot.) I knew I would need quite a bit so I purchased the 5 gallon of Original. The tree had already been laying for about a week and a half when I applied the sealer to it. There were cracks up to 1/16" wide on the end grain of 6 or 7 chunks (wish I had "before" pictures) and I used a roller to apply the sealer in 50 degree weather. Imagine my surprise when I walked out the next day and looked at the pieces of painted wood and noticed that the cracks had been entirely shut and sealer was being squeezed out. I have never experienced this sort of phenomenon before. Usually Anchorseal 2 would do a decent job, except for oak, cherry and myrtle but I had never seen sealer make cracks completely close up like this. The Anchorseal Original goes on easily and cleans up easily as well with soap and water. It seems to be a tad thicker than Anchorseal 2 and a gallon will go farther. I think I have found a new friend to prepare green wood for drying in anticipation of may woodworking projects. The cost difference between the two is no small matter in my book. I definitely recommend this product for fellow woodworkers.

Does its job perfectly
I have been using this product for over 15 years and it always performs. It significantly reduces end cracking in logs. I also use it over rough turned green bowls.

Excellent end grain sealer
This stuff is perfect for sealing end grain. Used it on a pergola for the post ends and the mortises and tenons- forms a waxy coating. Dries in a day. Water cleanup. Makes joints easier to fit too!
