Does anyone else even make mortise chisels anymore!? These are the only ones I know of. I love them and I find myself using them all the time. They are also very easy to sharpen. I do woodworking as a hobby but I'm a professional trim carpenter/gc. I use them at work all time especially hanging door slabs, installing hardware, ect. Very good tools to have, top quality

Perfection…best chisels for the money hands down

I purchased the Narex Mortise chisel in 5/8 width. The chisel is absolutely fantastic - very high quality product, I will be buying this model in other sizes. However, the packaging it was shipped in was terrible. Item was loose in an appropriate sized box (to lay diagonally) but with almost no packaging other than a loose wad of brown paper wrapping as "stuffing" to prevent shifting which was entirely inadequate. The chisel once had a beautifully ground edge, and since it had no packaging secured to the tip it had sliced through the stuffed in brown paper and through the sides of the box, and in doing so must have hit something pretty hard as it penetrated. It took a good half hour with sharpening stones to bring it back to a keen working edge from the damage it had received. That was not an issue with the tool, simply poor packing on the shipper's part. Sadly since I had a project waiting for it, I did not grab pictures.

These are robust chisels which are decently made. They can take a LOT of work to lap the back flat, which is a one time job fortunately. Once that is done they serve well, taking and holding an edge and also taking quite a beating. I like that the sides are slightly relieved to allow some steering in a mortise, and the handle has flat sides to allow you to feel when the chisel is lined up properly.

Narex chisels are very well made and versatile. Helpful for making clean cut joints in wood.
