- Whirl Gradient Yarn 1000 m (Approx. 1,094 yd) 553 Indigo Plane Cotton/Acrylic Blend

I've made scarves and shawlettes with this yarn for several years. It's fun to work with and is ideal for just a bit of warmth. I do have two caveats however: 1. The colors are not nearly as saturated as they appear on most devices. Occasionally there is an exception, but I would prefer a lot more intense colorways. 2. The price. Yes, you get a whopping 1000 meters, but competitors like YarnArt Flowers and YarnArt Rosegarden are often half the price with more bold colorways. Make sure to use the recommended hook or needle size with your pattern. The resulting fabric you make can be cushy and cuddly that way. Make sure to wet-block your project.

Beautiful yarn. The color is really nice and the ombré is very gradual. I wished it was more abrupt as my 16 inch mandala ended up changing not dramatically enough. Would be great for a larger one. The color joins were fine, had to trim them a few times but overall didn’t have any major issues.

Just wanted to post a comparison of 3 different 1000m (roughly) cakes of yarn I’ve ordered from Amazon. The Scheepjes whirl is the pink (still in wrapper). This is by far the finest I’ve received in terms of the weight of the yarn itself. It’s hard to judge without seeing them in person. I was hoping for something closer to the other 2, but this one is just not what I was hoping for. I’m sure the quality is great and it seems very soft and the ombré effect is beautiful, just not the type of yarn I enjoy using.

Update: Added a star because the finished shawl is lovely. The color is great - with so many spliced in color changes (which are a bit fuzzy at the splices) but it really is like working with lace weight yarn. I'm working on a shawl that calls specifically for this yarn, and I feel like I'm crocheting a doily. I was expecting more a fingering weight like other brands I'm used to. I paid $16 for the skein, which is a bit much for a skein, but it is 1000m

Very soft and lightweight. The joining of colors was a bit sloppy and had to trim off a lot of the extra fuzz.

Scheepjes whirl is gorgeous yarn with splendid color. This is ombré effect from rich royal blue to light gray. It came on time and in perfect shape.

This yarn is perfect for shawls. Light, easy to work with. And the ball is big enough for one shawl.

The gradient on it is soo pretty and it’s really nice to use. Once in a while the yarn is tangled within the skein which is a little annoying but fairly easy to unravel. It’s fairly soft also.

Lovely yarn, really lovely

An der Qualität der Wolle gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Sie lässt sich angenehm verarbeiten, die Farbübergänge sind bestens gemacht, es gibt ein schönes Maschenbild, und das fertige Stück ist angenehm zu tragen. Warum dann nur drei Sterne? Scheepjes muss an der Wicklung der Knäuel arbeiten. Ich habe Whirl bisher ohne größere Probleme von außen gearbeitet, dieses Mal aber vom Inneren des Knäuels begonnen. Es war ein einziges Ärgernis. Der Faden müsste sich leicht nach außen ziehen lassen. Hat er auch, aber mit einem Garnwust im Gepäck, der erst mühsam entwirrt werden musste, bevor man weiter arbeiten konnte. Das letzte Drittel des Knäuels ist dann gänzlich kollabiert. Ich habe fast zwei Stunden gebraucht, die Wollk...tze zu entwirren und zu entknoten. Hatte ich einen Meter zum Aufwickeln entwirrt, hat die getwistet Wolle Spaß daran, sich beim Wickeln nochmal mit sich selbst zu verdrehen. Also ein zweites Mal aufdröseln. Die Wolle wird dadurch auch nicht besser ... Lege ich meinen Stundensatz zugrunde, schuldet mir die Firma Scheepjes zwei Whirls und einige Whirlettes. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich ein Montagsknäuel erwischt habe, aber ich werde zukünftig jeden Whirl, den ich von innen heraus verarbeiten möchte, vorher neu wickeln.
