Classic Lighter

I haven't had this thing long, though I've been using it extensively. It reflects everything I love about brass. It's ductile, has a very soft feel, and gained a really nice petina quickly. Don't get me wrong, the nice shiny exterior it had when I pulled it from the box was very pretty, but I was glad to see it wore and changed quickly with use. Unlike the nickel-plated Zippo I had before, this one shows character already. Scratches, nicks, and dulling where I hold it all showed quickly. If you want something shiny and pretty, stick with the nickel-plated kind. If you want something that will age with you and show that it's uniquely yours, this is clearly more your style. Keep in mind, the chimney insert is steel with what seems to be a brass plating. That's fine, as that's the part that needs to be supremely durable. Altogether, standard high quality Zippo. Absolutely worth the price!

You can't go wrong with a Zippo!

I've used my fair share of generic 99 cent lighters and thought to myself "what am I doing with my life?" One night after watching Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs I seen how cool it was to pull out your Zippo and snap to turn it on and thought wow that's awesome, and it'll be a way to be that cool guy everybody wants to be so I hopped on Amazon and put my order in for this baby, and I am not disappointed one bit! I don't smoke but when a friend or relative needs a light I pull this out of my pocket, flip it up in the air, catch it, pop the top and snap this baby on. That classic Zippo noise it makes when you open and close it is to die for. Highly recommenced and the polish brass will look real good when aged. 5/5 would buy again.

Zippos are the original "wind proof lighter". The best part of being old tech / low tech is it will keep working as long as you have flint and fluid. I'm not a smoker, but this is in my pocket when I'm going into the woods and want to make sure I have easy access to fire. I carried one of these for many years before being wooed away by fancy (and in some cases quite expensive) so called windproof butane lighters... that always seemed to stop working reliably when I was several days into a trip. I think Zippo still offers a lifetime warranty. If it ever breaks, send it back to Zippo and they'll replace the guts (not the brass case) for free. Unfortunately (but understandably) this doesn't cover loss.

A Zippo is a Zippo, right? This one is no exception. It lights when it's windy and is very reliable. I use mine on camping trips to light my Zippo hand warmer, my camping stove and fires. It's important to know that these lighters were made for smokers. The design makes it a little difficult to light camp stoves and fires. Matches are better because they give you more reach. Also, it's use it or lose it with lighter fluid. Bic lighters are sealed and can sit around for years without losing fuel. Zippo lighter fluid evaporates. That's not a problem for a smoker who uses a lighter every day, but it can be if you are an infrequent camper. Just make sure to refill your lighter before you go. A Zippo excels at lighting a handwarmer because you can put continuous flame to it for longer than a match lasts and without having to hold down the button on a Bic. What's most important about a Zippo for campers is that it always lights and unlike matches, it lights in the rain. Finally, my lighter has a shiny brass finish. That makes it easy to find in my pack and at night. It's also the only brass lighter in out Scout troop, so I always know which one is mine!

So nice doesn't come filled so you gotta buy zippo fluid. So shiny never had one!

There’s no doubt that this is a high quality lighter as expected from zippo. The hinge is great, it has that iconic clicking sound, the wheel is solid, and the body construction is high quality and aligned well. The brass finish is also great. I got brass because I wanted something different that the classic chrome but I didn’t want something too gaudy and this finish is perfect. I wanted my lighter to wear out and become sort of faded and old looking and it did exactly that. The lighter looks really old and used after sitting in my pocket for a while and it’s just what I wanted. This is a great lighter and has an awesome finish and wears great over time. There’s really nothing more to ask from a lighter.

Got it today but unfortunately when I opened the box one side had several scratches
