The cotton is soft on one side and the other side has small dotted exfoliants and works well with your facial toners or after a clean wash of your face, it will do the trick. As a guy, I could not tell you if it helps remove makeup, but I can tell you that the product toner that I use is absorbed quite well with these pads and helps spread the product evenly over your face. Unlike some others I have ordered before, these actually stay together in one piece! I mostly use the soft side (which is really nice and soft) but the exfoliating side works well too. Will definitely purchase again!
