Solar Sun Rings are the original solar pool heating rings — and still the best. Each 60-inch Sunburst ring captures the sun's energy through a dual-layer UV-resistant vinyl design: the transparent top layer focuses sunlight while the lower layer converts it directly into heat, warming your pool naturally all day long. At night, the rings lock in that heat like a thermal blanket, slashing evaporation and cutting chemical loss. The patented magnetic rafting system lets rings snap together edge-to-edge for seamless, uniform coverage across any pool size. A redesigned inner grid with drainage grommets keeps the rings clean and easy to remove, and the durable construction is compatible with automatic pool cleaners. Trusted and recommended by pool professionals Review: Keep your water warm - Been using these for 13 years now. They do make a difference in keeping the water warm. Expect about 3 years of life with these. Review: Poor quality - The one I inflated didn’t even lay flat. The worst bit is that it was really hard to inflate properly because the plugs don’t have working valves - once you remove the inflater, the air just rushes out before you can plug it back. The plastic is very low quality, it won’t last long. So disappointed given the price. I returned the set.

Worked well
These solar discs really did help hold the water temperature on our 12' x 24' above ground pool during our Florida winter. After purchasing a solar water heater system, a solar blanket was suggested to hold the heat in when the pool was not in use. We didn't like the idea of some large, blanket that would be a chore to apply and remove each day, so these discs were the perfect answer. When it was time for my daily swim, I simply stacked these on top of one another in the pool when I got in, then spread them out again before I got out. Now that the weather is hot again, we cleaned them up and stored them away for next fall. Good product. No issues after using for 5 months.

Short version -- they work, but how on earth to store them?
So...I'll offer up relevant performance details first. Increased pool temp by 7-8 degrees after being installed for three days, two of which were rainy. Day four brought rain again and it seems to be holding that temp. They definitely generate heat. If you follow the instructions properly on inflation and use, you can feel a layer of warm water underneath them when you aren't running the pump. Instructions call for you to let them sit in the sun for 30 minutes after inflating. I didn't think they could cause any damage if laid on my lawn for that short a period, and boy was I wrong (see photo). The manufacturer recommends 10 rings for my 18' round pool, which don't quite fit. So I've accepted that one or two of them are a bit "pinched" from their full circular shape. Some things to consider: 1) Your pool filtration and cleaning isn't going to remove surface debris well with the rings installed. This debris instead gets trapped under the rings and releases when you take them out. Not a big deal if you remove them about an hour prior to swimming and run the pump, but noticeable. 2) My biggest issue so far is where and how to store these. There is no rigid outline wire, which tends to make them floppy. The manufacturer cautions against stacking them horizontally since any sunlight hitting the solar layer will superheat the area below and start burning any pads underneath. That floppiness I mentioned has me scratching my head over how I'm going to store 10 giant rings anytime I want to swim in the pool. I wish the manufacturer made an accessory for this. 3. Quality control, as with all products from China, is hit or miss. Several rubber grommets are on each ring and are designed to allow water trapped on the surface to pass through to the pool underneath. Most of these grommets had slivers of plastic that needed removal and three of my ten units had grommets that had not been perforated in ANY capacity, requiring me to manually make them useable. We'll see how they hold up with time.

Seasonal purchase due to lack of durability
Love the water anchor feature and overall they do the job of heating and/retaining heat. Still skeptical about how long these will last since these don’t seem to hold air as well as prior orders. We did try this version last summer to test them against the wind and they did stay in the pool, and they help air, but the magnet cavity is not impervious to water so the magnets rusted inside and would then leak rusty water out. Fingers crossed that won’t happen with this new set considering how expensive these are, but we’re willing to try. Overall, they work, but feeling like these are a seasonal purchase.

Poor quality
Way too much money for the quality of the product. I ordered 9 . One had a hole in it when I got it. The repair kit did not even pretend to work. 7 of the others do not hold air in the outer rings . I need to continually blow them up. When they connect together they work but in high wind they do not. The plastic they are made of is extremely poor quality . They have been in the pool for two months and are ready for the trash!

Great product
Glad we made give the solar rings a try. These solar rings allowed us to enjoy our pool every day... So easy to put on and take off about 3 to 5 minutes (on our above ground pool) , verses 20 minutes with a standard solar cover (20 x 40) just to take off. The having to clean the pool after the dirt and calcified water that falls into the water, made swimming a chore. This year we replaced our pool with a 19 x 20, and we didn't want to deal with the nightmare of a 20 x 40 cover. The solar rings are the way to go, our pool is 70% covered by the rings. The tempature is perfect, we didn't have to deal with any algae since there was perfect air flow. No dirt or calcificed water falling back into the pool which allowed up to swim every day, even after work. We even used less chemicals to maintain perfect swimming water. Best way to keep the tempature and keep pool clean. Only suggestion would be to make sure you read and follow the directions when you blow up the rings.

It does actually work
These legitimately work. My neighbor behind me gets direct sunlight on his pool 2 1/2 hrs prior to me and always had warmer water. Now my stays over his temp. Keep them in the pool overnight to keep the heat trapped into the water. It's not a replacement for a heater but this will definitely has been known to raise my temp about 3-4 degrees in one day if the ambient temperature outside is high enough. They will however blow out the pool if the wind is strong. That's the only downside.

Very pleased with product
Very pleased with product. Covered the water well and did wonders for the temperature. Noticeable difference within 48 hours.

Cheep quality
This are too small and a very cheep quality, they are blow up and do not sit on the water flat. I have taken the air out put more in them and they still stick out of the water on one or more sides. As well, all the bugs stick to them and when you take them out so you can use the pool it is filled with all the bugs that have tried to attach themselves to it. Very poor quality for what I paid for them. Not worth it!!!
