Product Description Ambience Minimus by Liquid Mind is graceful, gentle, and healing. This music is designed to help you relax deeply, during meditation, massage, yoga, rest, or in times of stress, and is the perfect background for massage, meditation, healing, yoga, pilates, reiki, shiatsu, tai chi or reflexology. The soothing flow of the music, and the absence of regular rhythm allows the listener to experience a level of relaxation not achievable by more active music. The first of Liquid Mind's elegant electronic series of slow relaxation music albums takes the listener to a place of deep calm and tranquility. This peaceful album is used by parents to help quiet hyperactive children, to assist themselves in going back to sleep in the middle of a difficult night, and to relieve the stress of a busy day at a computer terminal. From the artist: I originally wrote the music of Liquid Mind to help myself and my friends and family dealing with the anxiety & stress of working long hours and many jobs to support their families, and also for friends and family dealing with the stress of life-threatening illnesses like cancer & HIV. The Liquid Mind albums seem to have an immediate 'slowing down' effect on the listener, and may also help people get to sleep, and calm down after a tension-filled day. The ultimate compliment to me is that people fall asleep or deeply relax to my music. This is functional music, it serves the purpose of assisting us to be tranquil, when that may not be easy in today's world. That is why the compositions are longer than normal, and very slow in tempo. This music is very special to me, it is my labor of love, I hope you enjoy it. From the label: The excellent production values on the Liquid Mind albums reflect Chuck Wild's extensive experience working with many world-class artists, as songwriter, synthesist, composer, and arranger. Wild was first known for his work as synthesist & keyboard player in the 80's Capitol records artists 'Missing Persons', and more recently as a songwriter (over 70 songs recorded since 1988 for film, TV, and albums, including 'You're My One and Only', #1hit in Europe for Jennifer Rush), as co-composer of Max Headroom (Emmy-winning series), and as studio sound designer for Michael Jackson and many others. When Wild started releasing the Liquid Mind albums in 1994, the first persons to use them were alternative healthcare practitioners, chiropractors and massage therapists, followed soon by more mainstream medical practitioners, who report utilizing the music in clinical situations to assist in relaxation. Since the Liquid Mind albums became more widely distributed in 1995, they have all become favorites of those who use music for relaxation, meditation, and stress relief. Review Composer Chuck Wild creates a synthesized soundscape that immediately catapults the listener into a mindless, floating state... images of clouds, ocean waves and even the weightless state often perceived just before flying in the the dream state... -- Linda Atnip, Alternatives Magazine, 1996Liquid Mind's (music is a) ... a soothing, guided journey into quiet meditation... great for those seeking a long, uninterrupted musical meditation. The entire CD works to create a state of peace, and an almost sacred tone emerges from the material. Its mellifluous quality makes it ideal music for ceremony, stress reduction, ritual or body work. -- Ted Neff, Whole Life Times, 1996 From the Label The albums Slow World and Ambience Minimus by Liquid Mind contain some of the most calming and peaceful music I have ever heard. They are the essence of what healing New Age has always hoped to be...This music wraps the listener in a warm, fuzzy cocoon that drifts across the gentle waves in an infinite sea of serenity. If you want some music that will tangibly thicken the air in a room, so that your every move will want to become a slow motion ballet of grace, order these albums, I highly recommend them. About the Artist Chuck Wild, composer and producer of the Liquid Mind albums, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, trained for twelve years primarily as a classical performer on piano and sang in capella groups and choirs starting at the age of six. He studied music history and sang with the university choir while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Kansas. Four years followed as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, after which Chuck moved to Los Angeles in 1979 and joined the Capitol Records group Missing Persons. For the next four years, he recorded and toured internationally with the band. In 1985, Chuck began an extended period of songwriting and composition, and has written over 100 songs and compositions, more than 40 of which have now been recorded for albums or for use in television and film. The Pointer Sisters, Tommy Page, Timothy Leary, Wink, Jennifer Rush, Thelma Houston, Glen Medeiros and Philip Bailey are some of the artists who have recorded Wild's songs. While a staff songwriter at Lorimar Telepictures, Chuck co-composed music with Michael Hoenig for the emmy-winning ABC series Max Headroom. In 1992, his first classical composition for two pianos, Los Angeles Fantasy was premiered by Zita Carno and Gloria Ching at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles. The same year, Wild scored the Academy-Award winning film The Panama Deception. As well, Chuck has lent his sonic programming and studio talents on the synthesizer to projects with Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Missing Persons, Philip Bailey, Frank Zappa, and many other artists. Liquid Mind
Liquid Mind is really, really awesome. New Age and so soft and mellow. I use it when I'm wound up and can't get to sleep, but sometimes I like it too much and keep awake until cd's over. If you have a problem that you need quiet to try and sort things out -- this is for you.

My favorite, not his
This one is by far my favorite or the series, due to its unique, amoeba-like lack of discernible melody or rhythm, coupled with a high level of emotion and passion. I can go deeper into meditation using it than some of his more composed-sounding pieces. The artist told me he was surprised that I felt that way, and seemed to disagree, saying that it was created during a turbulent time and he finds it difficult to listen to. I think that the sheer power of this work my well be due to that very fact--often, we create better art in response to a personal need or conflict.

Case cracked
This CD is for a gift, it was shipped in a padded envelope and when I opened it the case is badly cracked. I hope the CD is okay, if not I will let you know. Thanks!

Perfect for Coffee Shops that have loud or distracting music or annoying customers
I do a lot of work in coffee shops. Some have loud music or loud patrons. I could play other types of music but this Liquid Mind allows me to focus on my work without getting distracted by a rhythm.

Aural therapy
Minimal synthesizer chords that are held for about 10 seconds, and then morph into the next chord. This goes on for over an hour. There is no rhythm, no discernable time signature, and nothing remotely approaching melody. Sound boring? Guess again. The chord changes are very diverse and progress in interesting ways. Sometimes soft major chords will drift into one another, sometimes they will morph into dissonant minor chords, only to be resolved in a few seconds by shifting into another pleasing chord. The overall effect is one of tension and release, repeated over and over, and produces a state of relaxation and calm. Play this to soothe your infant, or after a hard day at work. I defy you to stay awake through the whole CD. This album will cure insomnia, and I mean that as a compliment.

Soothes Your Tired Mind
One of many of Liquid Mind's selections of music that settles my mind, body and soul. I turn it on when I go to bed and listen to 15 songs from different Liquid Mind albums that I've selected to quiet me and lull me to a restful sleep. Wonderful.
