John Gwynne Of Blood and Bone Series 3 Books Collection Set (A Time of Dread, A Time of Blood, A Time of Courage)

The Blood and Bone series is a follow-on to the initial The Faithful and the Fallen trilogy. It's set over a hundred years after the end of the Faithful series. Once again John Gwynne doesn't disappoint with a new phase to the original story including some of the original characters and many new interesting ones. The story if full of unexpected twists and doesn't set everyone on either side as entirely good or bad. If you enjoyed the first set, you'll definitely enjoy this one.

First. Don't do what I did and read these first... i mean you can. But like me, you might kick yourself haha. So before reading Of Blood and Bone - read the Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne. (4 books). You don't have to. But it might help. Why? Well now. The Of Blood and Bone saga is the epic culmination and conclusion of the tale told in The Faithful and the Fallen series. We are about 130 years after the events in the Faithful and the Fallen. And some of the characters we came to know and love are carried on into this tale. The war rages on. The Ben-Elim rule most of the land from Drassil. They scour the land searching for the utterly evil and terrifying Kadoshim and their supporters. But the Ben-Elim are not all completely the good and benevolent beings we thought they were! I am not going to spoil the story here. Lets just say that Of Blood and Bone is darker. It hits harder and you will feel it in your very bones. Be prepared to spend sleepless nights reading these books. Because I promise you that once you start - they are impossible to put down. Oh and get ready to cry. Because you will! Read these books! TRUTH AND COURAGE! FRIENDS.

Of Blood and Bone does a good job of wrapping up the story laid out a century hence. Honestly, there's a little too much action for my taste, and the plot isn't quite as engaging, but OBAB is a passable fantasy read and a must if you wish to know the ultimate fate of the war in the Banished Lands and the ultimate fate of Asroth. Please note that The Faithful and the Fallen should be read first! While this trilogy could potentially be read stand alone, or TFATF read as a prequel, you will be missing out on much context that way, and you'll be spoiled as to the plot of TFATF.

Great books. Love this author. If you're a fan of sword and shield type fantasy with some mythical beasts thrown in this is the highest quality. Absolutely recommend. Some of the best storytelling I've read in a long time

They look great ,even better for a gift

Great set of books but you will have to read "Faithful and the Fallen" ( 4 books set) first as it refers to characters in them a bit. They are a good read too.

This series is a gift. I mistakenly thought that it would arrive as a 'boxed set' as trilogy often do. So I was a bit disappointed in the presentation. I cannot comment on the quality of the cover or pages as the group is wrapped in plastic and I don't want to open it prior to gift giving.

Great price for the trilogy. Decent condition on arrival. NOT AS ADVERTISED as received the original book covers despite the ad displaying the updated covers.
