Fixed the suspension clunks/rattles from the front of our MDX when going over bumps. Had shops look at the car and tell me everything from "it all looks good" to "you need new struts and sway bar links" and so on. The struts are only 30K miles old, the sway bar links are solid, tie rods are solid, and all the control arm bushings were replaced a year ago. Finally discovered myself that while the sway bar bushings looked OK visually, they were hardened and the sway bar hole in the bushing was elongated on the driver's side. The passenger side bushing was a quick swap but the driver's side is a pain since the rear bushing bracket bolt is VERY difficult to access and turn due to proximity to the rear A/C plumbing. The only solution is PATIENCE, turning with a dog-leg box wrench about 1/4-turn at a time --takes forever but it can be done. If a shop did the work, they'd probably drop the front subframe an inch or so and it would go quickly. Anyway, new bushings are in, noise is gone...serenity now!
