Which side should face out if used as hvac filter? if there was an arrow on the side for airflow, would the white side be the top of arrow or bottom?

Direction of air flow is through the white first, blue second. White side faces out, blue in when using as an intake filter.

This is an intake filter. White side faces out, blue side in. So yes, air will go through the white side first and blue second. White catches the larger particles, blue smaller particles. You want the filter to catch the big particles first when using this material. The smaller particles get trapped deeper into the filter media. Merv rating is 6. The higher the Merv rating the more it will filter out.
