The Oral-B iO5 Electric Toothbrush is the quietest electric toothbrush I’ve ever used, and it delivers an exceptional clean, you truly feel like you’ve just visited the dentist. The toothbrush has excellent battery life and comes with a sleek travel case. However, there are a couple of downsides: older Oral-B brush heads don’t fit this model (though my children use the older brushes, so the heads won’t go to waste), and it only comes with one head. Replacement heads are also pricier than the older ones. Despite this, the cleaning performance and overall quality make it a worthwhile investment and it definitely deserves 5 stars.

Best toothbrush I ever had

After forty years of using a manual toothbrush, I had been thinking about getting an electric one. Having used one briefly about 20 years ago, I had been put off by it making my arm vibrate the whole time which was quite an unpleasant feeling. Therefore, it was with some trepidation that I took the plunge and bought the Oral B io5, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Not only does it only thankfully vibrate at the toothbrush end, but my teeth have never felt cleaner! It has a small head so it can be angled anywhere in the mouth to give a really full clean. I don't feel like there's bits I haven't been able to clean properly. It is also great for cleaning the backs of my teeth and in between. I really like the fact that it's pressure sensitive so you can choose what level works for you. I also like the colour coded band of light around the middle, although you will probably need to be looking in a mirror to see it change. The green light indicates you're using the right amount of pressure, red too much and white not enough. When I've seen it turn white, I know that I'm not pressing hard enough so I make the correction. All very useful to get a full clean. The battery life is excellent. I have had it for over a week now and only charged it once when it first arrived. It senses vibrations so actually lights up as you're about to pick it up. I like to think that it's pleased to see me! One downside though, and the reason I took one star off, is the fact that it only comes with a shaver-style plug. I understand Oral B's statement is that this is for safety reasons, but as I don't have this kind of socket in my house, I had to go and buy a separate adaptor, which was annoying. I would rather this had been an option at the time of purchase. I don't know anyone who actually has one of these plug sockets in their bathroom so I would imagine most people would have to buy a standard UK 3-pin adaptor and charge the toothbrush in a different room. All seemed a little unnecessary to me. Overall an excellent toothbrush and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent. One of the best I have ever used

Have been using it for few weeks now, definitely a good upgrade in comparison to a 5 year old electric Oral B toothbrush. My teeth and mouth feels clean after each brush. The intense vibration mode is fantastic for a deep clean. The application helps and guides you to do a proper job. The battery isn't as long as I thought it would be but unsure if it's related to the mode I'm choosing or if using the app drains it more?

Ive had loads of electric toothbrushes but never an IO. I got this because of the Prime deal. I am so glad i did. The IO series is lighter, has a better ergonomic feel and in my opinion makes my teeth feel so much cleaner. The app helps track cleaning to make sure you get every part of your mouth for the correct time and at the correct pressure. The vibration of the brush makes teeth feel really clean. It isnt as loud as other electric toothbrushes which is great if your up early like me and dont want to wake the whole house. It looks good and modern and its easy to use and pair to the app. This is a great performing brush and has a handy travel case too. I dont know if id pay full price as its very expensive but well worth it if you can get it on a prime or black Friday deal or something

I've been an avid Oral-b user for years and finally took the plunge to invest in their iO series with their 5. Good Points - Once out of the box the whole thing is amazing. Great quality and the brush feeling after is top notch. Used with the app can improve your brushing routine. Bad Points - Using the app will take some time to get used too (I can never get all areas white within the 2 mins, isn't a problem as you can set the timer to whatever you want through the app). Battery is no where near 2 weeks, mine is more 7-8 days, maybe it's 2 weeks straight out of the box and not connected via bluetooth to your phone. Teeth tracking isn't 100% as you can be brushing one area of your mouth and the app displays another area, trial and error to get it working. Overall a good product. UPDATE 18th April 2023 STAY AWAY. Since the app updated to version 9.3.0 then 9.3.1 I have had nothing but trouble. App tracking brushes that didn't happen, not tracking brushes that did happen and duplicating brushes (2 recorded 2 unrecorded) on the same day. Have spent weeks with the Oral-b customer support team via email including detailed descriptions of all the problems including pictures, but all they do is quote the instruction manual, now as off today, the brush handle will not charge. Other Oral-b electric brushes (2 x Pro 3000's charge, so not the chargers) charge fine. This is apparently a common problem with the iO range. My review stands in that the cleaning of the brush head on the teeth is first rate, but it ain't worth it. I sent the brush away for repair as it is under the 2yr warranty (must register). Received txt confirmation that it has been received at the service depot and updates will follow accordingly. Didn't hear anything for 4 weeks, emailed the service centre and did a get quick reply in that my brush is awaiting inspection and that they are under a backlog of repairs (wonder why) and should be seen in the next 7-10 days, again nothing heard for another 2 weeks, emailed again and was told that it is very close to being inspected. Another email was to be sent for an update and a package was delivered to my home (26th May 2023), on opening it was an brand new Oral-b iO6. No email/txt/call stating the outcome, but can't really complain as I got an upgrade at no cost. From sending away to receiving an upgraded replacement was roughly 8 weeks, from initial problems with the app to the delivery would've been roughly 14 weeks. I bought an iO7 as a replacement and since purchase I have not had a single problem. Brush firmware is different to the iO5. I do believe that the app update, then another update within 10 days caused the problem (I think the iO5 had a firmware update also) but I cannot be sure.
