A great experience that will only improve with time!
What a great game! Like many have said previously, this is an online only game ( apart from the arcade mode ) so if your not a PS Plus subscriber you probably wont get as much out of the game but saying that, I cant see why people would not want to be a PS Plus subscriber. Its a bit pricey but great value over all. As far as the game goes, its just a great game. The Graphics are just amazing, performance is spot on at 60FPS and silky smooth, the sound is great from the engine noise etc... and a really good soundtrack. The game has been out all but a couple of days and a lot of people seem to be complaining about the lack of cars and tracks. This will be increased with future updates but I still find that whats there from the start is enough to warrant purchasing the game. If you have a wheel its also a great experience but plays really well on a standard DS4. Ive been a gamer for over 30 years and have every GT game and I think the progress the game has made over the years is just brilliant. Games will always have "haters" and like all games, you cant please everybody after all but I think a lot of the negatives the game may have will be rectified with near future updates to bring it more in line with peoples expectations. If you give this game a chance I'm sure most serious racers will get lots of enjoyment out of the game. Its a fantastic experience. NO RACING GAME is perfect as they all show faults and people have widely different expectations about what is "perfect" in a driving game. A few minor adjustments to the options will be most welcome and will only make this game an even better experience. I love it and IT WILL have a massive user base which can only be a good thing in regards to the online aspect of the game. I'm sure some people will disagree with what I have said about the game as like I say, you cant please everybody and youll always have your fanboys of other racing games that cant wait to slate the game "just because it on another system! Real gamers will not be bothered about this and will just enjoy games whatever system its on. I own Project Cars 2 and I own Forza 7 and both are really good games. They all have their faults and they all have great things going for them. GT Sport is also fantastic in 4K on a PS4 Pro so if you have both of those in your arsenal, you are going to get a great experience. I highly recommend GT Sport. There is a lot to be enjoyed from the game and the things that need improving I'm sure will be in the near future. As Far as console racing goes, I really don't think there is that much to dislike about the game. Its not perfect but Nothing is. I'm happy and to me that's all that matters. Well done Polyphony.

Still Sitting Pretty in Pole Position
Further Update 1st December: Single player GT Mode on its way in December with free DLC! Can't wait! This game has now blown all others out of the water. Constantly playing GT Sport and not a lot else. This is the racing game I had waited so long for since the last time I player Gran Turismo back on PS2. Pure awesomeness and for the current price of £27 it is an absolute bargain. Old Review - November: This is an update to my review I did a few days after receiving the game. At that time I gave it two stars. In summary my original review focused on my annoyance and disappointment over the lack of a single player career mode and online only saves, etc. Since then I have played the game a lot even delving into the online racing which I thought would not interest me. So far I have found it to be pretty awesome and the emphasis on behaving in a sportsman like manor seems to be working. I've rarely had any instances where other racers have rammed my car or tried to push me off the road. Another part of the game that I thought was going to be a waste of time is the Scapes. Again I have found myself spending quite a bit of time with this mode. As I mentioned in my original review the graphics are crazy stunning. The cars look amazing and the replays are the best. So many racing games have terrible looking replays. The lighting in race mode and replays is beautiful and I find myself watching a lot of replays. On the ps4 pro with 4k the graphics are simply amazing. I am still somewhat disappointed by the lack of a single player career mode but the strength of the online racing and the overall quality of the game has forced me to do a complete 180 with my review. I have gone from being annoyed and disappointed by this game to playing it daily and really really loving it. I'm even enjoying playing the Sport online racing mode which has totally surprised me. Due to this I have to increase my rating to 5 stars. It's just too good not to.

Half a Gran Turismo
I had preordered both the collectors edition of this game and the collectors edition of Project cars 2, but as the release dates were right on top of each other, I could not justify buying two £100+ games at the same time so one had to go. As a long time GT fan, it should have been an easy choice, but after reading a lot of stuff online about GT being more online based, I decided GT had to go and stuck with Project Cars 2 instead. After finally getting the standard edition of GT Sport in the Black Friday sales I have to say I made the right choice. While both cars claim to be more simulator orientated, GT Sport is clearly more arcade based and PC more sim based. Rather than continue to compare the two, as quite frankly they are very different beasts, I am going to compare them to previous GT games. I did miss out on the last GT game as it came out on the PS3 far too late for me, as I had stopped buying any games for that system by then, so do not know how it compares to that, buy based on owning all previous versions I have to say that GT Sport is a let down. Yes it is very pretty, and plays great (although AI in single player is awful), it just comes across as only half a game. The big selling point of GT in the past was the vast amount of cars in it, even if it did go overboard on Japanese cars (especially Skylines). This one though has a tiny roster of cars, and if you take into consideration that most of the cars are actually just the same car but in different spec (Road, race, rally etc), it makes it even worse. And do not get me started on the VGT cars. One or two concept cars is ok, but this many is just silly. When you play GT you do not want made up cars, you want real life replicas. And then of course there is the whole "online all the time" rubbish. Yes yes before the "It was clearly marketed as an online racer" bores start shouting. We all know it was pushed as predominantly online based game, but why could there not be a more dedicated single player section as well? And why do you have to be online to play the single player section at all? Thankfully they seem to have realised this mistake with the upcoming single player update, but it should have been like this from the start. Also, with the exception of the special rally stages, where the hell is dynamic weather? I will say that the livery editor is fantastic, and yes the game is fun, but it just seems like half a game to be honest. Not enough cars, not enough tracks, no weather effects, very limited VR and even the online does not really have that much meat on its bones. This should never have been a full priced game quite frankly as it is more like a slightly beefed up prologue game of the past. To be fair, the whole gaming market has been following this trend in recent years, carving up a game before it is released so you only get a fraction of it, with the rest coming later as "bonus DLC". With the addition of the single player update to GT Sport and the whole back down by EA on Battlefront 2, hopefully we are starting to see a trend towards fans voting with their wallets and software houses reacting to limit damage. I do not mind DLC, but if a game feels like it is half released, then it really is not DLC, it's part of the game you originally paid for. For the price I paid in the sale, the game is well worth it, but as a full priced release, it is a let down. Realistically, until they release more free updates to this game, do not pay more than £20-£25 for it. Edit: I am going to leave my original review as is, just to show how living with this game for a while has changed my opinion. I was originally annoyed with the single player mode being so poor, and to an extent that still stands even though they have expanded it as it is not really that engrossing. But now I am no longer so annoyed mainly because I got so addicted to the online mode. The online is not without its faults (the penalty system is horrible and the change from daily to weekly races is repetitive), but I just found myself playing it over and over to the point that I never turned Project cars 2 on anymore, which is a shame as that was a great game. The driver rating and sportsmanship rating do quite well at putting you in lobbies of similar strength drivers, but obviously has issues if you have a couple of bad races and lose ratings, then you end up racing with the drivers who are not exactly what you would call "fair". The updates have added more tracks and cars, which defo makes this a better game than the one that it launched as, and gets updated on a monthly basis. At the price it is now it is well worth a punt if you like online racing. Just be aware that even the single player racing requires an online connection as all game saves are done via the cloud not on the system.

PS4's best racing game
Possibly the best racing game on any current format. The game just keeps growing, new content is added more or less bi-monthly and the current game is a far cry from the game when it was originally launched. If you're just buying this, be prepared for a HUGE amount of updates, but it is definitely worth the wait (or you could buy the Spec II edition of the game as it has more of the updates included on the disc) A now huge amount of tracks and vehicles to choose from, loads of single player events, a large variety of game modes and some elements of the game are compatible with PlayStation VR (mostly the Time Trial mode) On top of this there's the license mode and the online daily/weekly races and the FIA backed World Championship. I can't wait to see where the games goes next. Polyphony Digital have provided the good again, cementing their position as the best game producer of this genre.

Not the game you thought it was...
Right, this is my third review and this is after I've had this for a month, so I've really tried it out. Three stars is being generous. When this game was announced, online racing was stated to only take up 15% of the game. It has since then taken on a different slant. It's ALL online racing focused. There are some offline racing modes, driving school, mission, lap courses etc with access to the courses for arcade, time trial, drifting and custom racing. These all give you money, experience and mileage points. Money buys you cars, experience takes your driving level higher and mileage points are for improving your car (ONLY power/weight reduction though. Tyres, suspension etc are always fully adjustable). You'll need to be constantly online though for your games saves as they are backed up to servers. While theses arcade modes are enjoyable, you always feel it's just a starter for the main event, which is online racing. I don't have this, and it seems, neither do a shed load of people. So much so, that Polyphony and Sony gave 5 days free access to try and tempt you. Complete waste of time. No kidding, you have three races a day. That's it. Three races, it changes each day but it stays at three. And two of them are nominated car only. Wow. Gasp, as you're driving round a speedway in a sedan, 0 to 60 in two hours! If this is what online racing is I will not pay an extra £6 a month for it. The sportsmanship, is stupid. A car smashes into you (remember these are not AI, they're other online drivers) and you get penalized. Who are these people I'm racing against that don't get docked!!! And if you think that's bad, wait till your tearing down a straight (in a race that you managed to find that lets you drive fast cars) and a car behind you, just drives right through you!!!!! No collision, nothing. Just drives through like a ghost. Shockingingly bad. I booked a week off work for this month, just to try it. Wasted my holidays... You also win cars for completing a daily workout (two laps of the Nurburgring) and getting all golds in tests etc but they are random and you'll lose your rag when three different gold medals give you the same car, why? Coz you can't sell them. Whats the point in getting given the same chuffing car. Ridiculous. It looks like GT, it sounds like GT, it feels like GT, and I'm playing it out of some sort of loyalty to my favourite racing franchise but I'm bitterly disappointed. I bought the PS4 just for this game, that's how much I loved the GT games but I feel I've wasted £230. Look, if you've got the time to grind and have a top steering wheel etc, then the few online races and entry into GT world tournements will be for you. I'd say 70% of folk don't have the time or the kit to do this, for them it's a waste of time. Here's a tip, going through your driving school, arcade stuff, you should get to a £1,000,000 credits, really easy. Buy the Tomahawk GTR, the one with 1,500 BHP, not the crazy 2,500 BHP. Enter a time trial on BB Speedway and put an elastic band round your accelerate grip, it will speed round each lap on it's own, scraping down the right side of the wall, each lap is 15 seconds and two laps is one mile. Then switch the telly over and leave it. 18hrs later, you've got 500,00 credits but more importantly, 20,000 mileage points.

The fact that's it's concentrated as online is perfect for me
The fact that's it's concentrated as online is perfect for me, I never play those pointless play against the AI anyway. I want to race against real people and this does just that. I thought the point of a racing game was to race not to buy car and do them up like in past Gran Turismo games. this has made a step is the right direction as far as I'm concerned. The graphics are excellent, the sound is meant to be fantastic but I think it's a bit mediocre. The car physics take a bit of getting used to but when you get used to them it's a pleasure to drive, until you let 1 wheel touch the grass, then you are spinning. Also a let down is the penalty system, I'm sick of getting penalties for someone hitting me Overall excellent game, 6 days non stop playing. Back at work now ;(

Definitely a better game than I had hoped.
At the start GT Sport didn't get a great reception. But now it has so much to do! Wow is it so addictive, I spent so much time doing all the offline driving challenges and then I had the online tournaments and it is so realistic! After many patches and waiting for the game to improve, it really is better than a "playable" game. I bought it on Wednesday and I've already played 24 hours. The car selection is just the best and the way you can get them is really satisfying. And it is cool to sign up to a car manufacturer as a racer. My personal favourite feature is 'scapes'. Having the most beautiful pictures at my disposal and a huge variety of them and to design my cars in the way I want them. So precise! Definitely recommend this game to a driving game fan.

Love this game and I don't get the bad reviews
I cannot understand the reviews for this game whatsoever. I love this game. I love the depth in it. I love the online play and I love the gameplay. I initially brought it to use my PSVR with really, but haven't used that much, as it is a bit limited (Need to explore that a bit more when the kids give me 5 minutes peace! 😉) but the rest is great. I really like the way the missions help you improve, and the online play, and in particular the matching is great. Perhaps other people don't like the "real racing" feel of it, I genuinely don't get it. Also I brought a racing wheel for the first time, which has increased my enjoyment, which perhaps has biased my opinion. Also, although I'm an experienced gamer, I haven't played a driving game for quite a while, so maybe other ones are much better, but I like this one just fine.

Great ps exclusive
I had recently played the old gta 2 and 3 and was glad that this one is similar. I had to laugh when i went to buy a car for 400k credits and it asked if i wasnt to spend 3$ irl instead. Sad. Great game though. On gamepad i like the way it drives more than forza but the graphics arent as pretty as forza
