I love that is shows both indoor and outdoor values
Well, I’ve had my IQAir AirVisual Pro for a few days now. And I just love it. It is mainly designed to be an indoor sensor, and that's how I'm using it. (You can actually use it outdoors, but then you don't get indoor readings.) You can monitor outdoor Air Quality by hooking it up to the internet. There are several local sensors that folks nearby me (just a couple of miles away) that are available, or there's the local Air District that is also just 2 miles away. All of these are available using the IQAir AirVisual App. The App is free, and you can monitor any number of Air Quality sensors worldwide that you want. I highly recommend the App just for those reasons. But where the Air Visual App really shines after you add the Air Visual Pro to the app. You can then monitor the outside Air Quality and inside air quality either on the app, or on the Air Visual Pro screen. It will tell you if the air quality is better inside or outside, and what actions to take, like open or shut windows, or don’t got outside, or outside activities are fine. The Air Visual Pro displays CO2 and PM2.5. It also shows the US AQI readings. China AQI is another option. The PM2.5 readings seem accurate, so I can use it to make decisions about closing up inside, and using air filters if needed. It’s really an amazing device. Also there is a significant Knowledge Base on the IQAir website that gives out a lot of extra information about the Air Visual Pro. The one drawback, is that it costs a bit, $269, but part of that cost is that is has its own screen. Having it's own screen makes it more usable, you can just look to see how the Air Quality is both inside and outside, and get the direct recommendations right one the device. It's a five star winner.

LOVE this monitor - better than others I've tried!
This is super-accurate for PM2.5 and CO2! Easy to use! I don't write a lot of reviews but I just had to. This is our 3rd since it was first released by the manufacturer (an excellent manufacturer of extremely high-end medical grade air filtration machines we have used for almost a decade). I used a different brand of air monitor before which was much harder to use and maybe a bit less accurate. It also connects to see a worldwide network of readings that I can see on a map and use to assess real time air quality in another neighborhood to decide to go there or not - great during the CA fire season when you have asthma! Downside is just that it does not measure some things: PM10, PM1 or smaller, VOCs, ozone. I generally find that under normal conditions PM2.5 gives me a general feel of the dust levels in the air, but of course some things can slip through that measurement size. Of all of those additional measurement abilities I'd most want a VOC meter added. The discontinued air monitor I used to use also had a VOC meter and I did find that useful. Sometimes I feel nauseous or get headaches due to high VOCs. Sometimes the CO2 also rises when the VOCs rise (because it's due to not enough ventilation/fresh air coming in), but not always. So being able to detect times of low CO2 but high VOCs was helpful for assessing the health of the indoor environment and changing things to lower the VOCs. I thought this was going to be a huge disadvantage, though, and it turns out to only be relevant in rare situations, because the CO2 almost always tracks with VOCs anyways, so CO2 serves as a proxy for VOCs just fine most of the time. Overall, I love this thing! Love it's clear display, accuracy, and simplicity! I keep it on all the time, usually without pairing it since the screen is so clear even from across a room that I don't need it on my phone to see what it's telling me about my current air quality.

AirVisual Pro measurements seem very accurate
This air quality monitor works very well for it's stated purpose. Something that is not clear and many reviewers may not know is that the displayed AQI calculation only takes PM 2.5 (smaller sized particles) into account. So it is possible that you are in an environment where you have high levels of PM10 particles (that would indicate poor air quality) but low levels of PM 2.5 particles and the Air Visual Pro would indicate a good air quality AQI. So this may explain why some reviewers perceived this as a symptom of a faulty monitor. The AirVisual Pro does have a PM10 sensor and does capture that measurement separately. You can access PM10 and PM2.5 measurements via a computer for offline analysis. Given that the PM10 measurement is available, I dont understand the rationale for not including it in their displayed AQI calculation. It would seem that all it would take would be a simple software change. This is the reason I took one star away from this product. Otherwise, it seems very accurate for PM 2.5, PM10 (checked offline), and Carbon Dioxide. You can google reviews for the AirVisual Pro and you will find many websites and organizations that have put this monitor to the test against similar products and in general they give the AirVisual Pro high marks. That has also been my experience as well, this monitor is very sensitive (including detecting increase in particles due to cooking, sweeping, using oil diffusers, etc...). I really would like them to update their software to include PM10 in their AQI calculation as well as later add an Ozone sensor.

True and accurate representation of household environment
After having it for 24 hours I played with it this morning in bed because it has a long cord and there is a setting in there that is for the CO2 sensor and it was saying that the inside of my house where is basically full of smoke and unhealthy air and the little indicator wears a red face and I couldn’t understand it because I woke up feeling refreshed and so did the kitties so after playing with it I realize there’s a setting for a CO2 sensor that says if you just received this item which may have shipped and been banged around in a truck reset this setting only wants and it will re-calibrate my carbon dioxide are you acting as if you’re very weird go breathing in my area and close one bedroom apartment so after resetting it in a span reading truthfully now for about 15 hours and if we are comfortable and are 3 to 400 which is normal so all of the things are great I only bought this thing because after running numerous pepper and UBC filters throughout the house and one in Side A air handling for 30 million dog UVC bulb I purchased this for the cleanliness of the air Parrot a brand new, install, air conditioning system, which monitors the same thing with the ecobee wireless thermostat, professional grade, which also monitors VOCs and CO2 and they both concur. They are in agreement. That is why I bought it for a second opinion plus it’s connected to a worldwide sensor establishment that you get free outside air indications for where you are or where you may be heading. This thing is amazing. The AI confirms it that it is Swiss made to the highest standards including the VOC and CO2 Sensors. this is not some under $100 sensor that makes you feel good. This is a highly calibrated technical instrument that will tell you just how healthy your environment i.e. your home condo apartment van tent. It doesn’t matter. This thing will tell you if what your breathing is going to give you a healthy nights rest thank you for your attention to this matter.

Stopped working 6 months after purchase, waste of money.
This was highly recommended and worked excellently at monitoring our indoor air quality when we bought it over the summer, which we could tell when its measurements matched the measurements of another indoor monitor we purchased. 6 months in, the C02 measurements began showing massive disparities with our other monitor, and did not change when we took the monitor outside. As we bought this for full functionality, it has been a huge disappointment that we only got 6 months usage out of it. A total waste of money. DO NOT buy.

Company Doesn't Stand Behind The Product
I purchased the product about 18 months ago. It works very well. Easy to use. Accurate. Intuitive. Simple but useful. It's great. A few weeks ago, it started making an unholy racket every few minutes. It's very disruptive. I wrote an email to the company asking them for assistance. That's when the problems started. First, they take several days to respond to any email. Second, each email is redundant, as the person responding to my message hasn't read any of the previous messages. They've asked the same questions multiple times. Third, they say things like, "you should probably clean the bushings" without explaining what the bushings are, where they are located, how I find them, and how I should clean them. When I ask them for a schematic or an instructional video, they just say, "we don't have that." Finally, they said that I could send the unit to them (I pay postage), and they'll fix it FOR 65-75% OF THE COST OF A NEW UNIT! This is a top-of-the-line monitor. It broke in no time at all, and the company is absolutely not standing behind it's product. Avoid them. They're awful. UPDATE: I managed to find a reasonable person in the customer service department. This person initially gave me the same answers as everyone else (fix it yourself or pay us 65% of the purchase price to do it for you). When I reminded them that they've been giving them the runaround and showed them copies of the emails I've received (including ones that instructed me to fix a product that is different from the one I purchased and inquired about), this person offered to have the company fix the unit free of charge. You shouldn't have to jump through hurdles like this to get a company to stand behind their product, but I did, and they did, so take that additional information as you will.

Overpriced device with limited functionality
Device seems to be overpriced, for what it does - listing / box promises CO2 & PM measurements, outdoor & indoor air quality comparison, air quality coach, IFTTT integration - in reality, PM measurements displaying is turned off by default (only as a part of AQI), outdoor air quality data is questionable at its best (was getting some realistic data / forecasts at first, but after a few days of usage it started permanently displaying 1 AQI for my location, which is far from real situation ( they are pulling data from some open sources, so, I guess there's an issue with pulling data from the source available), failed to find any IFTTT presence in app, "air quality coach" is 5-7 predefined messages, which are hardly insightful. As for device looks / build quality - it's hardly a 270 buck device - glossy cheap plastic and cheap TFT LCD, which are a fingerprint magnets, displaced USB connector out of the box (had to align it manually in order to insert USB cable), plastic debris in the grill, where PM sensor is supposed to get the air... As for the sensors accuracy - can't judge about CO2 sensor accuracy, since I don't have any reference device, but PM readings seem to be overly optimistic, compared to other PM meters I have an access to - probably, it's caused by measurement interval, which seems to be once per several minutes - so, it fails to catch those sudden changes, caused by burning, etc. Overall, not happy with device and wish I've selected a cheaper device from lesser known company - gap in price is largely due to a false promises.

Buono Ma Oltrepassato

Just what I needed.
I’ve been getting worried about the increase in vehicle traffic on the major roads near my house and also on my own street. I have noticed when I step out front, or back, I get a blast of car exhaust blowing toward me. There are many renters in one house, with several cars, usually idling, plus Ubers and deliveries. I have Dyson products in my house but I was concerned (more for my dogs!) that when they are outside, they are not inhaling all this pm 2.5! My government-air-quality station is a few kilometres from me and, sure, general AQ is nice to know, but where I am actually located can have much different AQ than that station obviously. What’s nice about this is I can put it on my deck while I am outside and see what the pm 2.5 levels are, and as soon as I bring it inside the pm 2.5 returns to zero again. I have tested this against my Dyson with the door open and it’s accurate. In fact IQAir was the most accurate in a comparison of consumer-grade AQ monitors, and for the price was surprisingly close to the accuracy of government monitors (within 5% I think). Anyway, I use this inside the house, and I have AQ OUTDOOR for permanent measurements outside (mounted on a front-yard tree) which I love even more. That one lets me know when is the best time to go outside. It’s so interesting seeing what the trends are, and how meteorological conditions and wind improve or worsen AQ. Both modules have continuous monitoring or by the hour. The app is great and instantaneous. Both store historical data which you can share on the iq air map. I’m really happy with IQair and my third product will be the Atem for the car. If I can afford another AQ Outdoor for the deck I will get one. (You don’t want to open your windows when AQ is bad, and your nose can’t always tell). Where I live it’s just cars and cars and I want to be conscious of having clean air for my pups to enjoy, and it benefits me too.
