Why doesn't the star projector spin?

It spins, but it is designed to spin slowly in order to simulate the rotation of the real starry sky.

Do the discs need to be replaced after use?

Dear customer, these discs can be reused, but you need to manually change the slides to switch between different scenarios. Interesting manual switching of film discs helps with children’s intellectual development.

How can i expand the image more

I push the projector back then it expands.

Does this unit use a laser?

I really don't believe so. It's simply a light projected through a slide image that slowly rotates. It's not a super clear image.
