Wow best router I have had. Reliable. Had it now a few months. Changed the firmware to open source to improve functionality and am even happier. The WiFi Handel’s a lot of traffic and doesn’t it well compared to two other routers I have tryed.

El router funciona de maravilla. El único "problema" eran los puertos USB, que para que funcionaran bien como NAS con varios discos duros leí que habían muchos problemas, pero todo quedó resuelto el primer dia instalando el firmware de DD-WRT. El problema es el firmware original que viene "capado" La velocidad es perfecta, al igual que su cobertura. Tengo que decir que me compré una tarjeta wifi AC de Broadcom (La Azurewave AW-CE123H) para el portátil y ahora tengo señal perfectamente donde antes se me cortaba cada dos por tres. Yo hago streaming de la tele con un HDHomerun de dos sintonizadores conectado al router y uso un Sharkoon 5-Bay RAID Station con 5 discos duros para ver todas mis pelis, series, datos... por toda la casa. En el mismo comedor donde tengo el router POR WIFI funcionan perfectamente los dos canales de tele en HD y hasta cuatro pelis todos a la vez sin el más mínimo parón. Así que os podeis hacer una idea de su velocidad. Haciendo un test de velocidad de mi conexión de ONO por wifi AC no tengo la más mínima pérdida. Todos los distintos test que he hecho me marcan los 100MB/10MB, cuando con el router de ONO la wifi N se me quedaba en 70-75MB/8-9MB. Cuanto rollo, parezco un comercial de Netgear! :-)

Nach dem mein WGR614 v6 in die Jahre gekommen und im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes aus dem letzten (hochfrequenten) Loch Pfiff, war es Zeit für was neues. Damit es eine Weile reicht und auch dem anstehenden Wechsel zu einem 100MBit Anschluss gerecht wurde, fiel die Entscheidung auf den Nighthawk. Bewährte Netgear Qualität - eine intuitive Oberfläche. Alle reservierten Lan und Wlan IPS waren ruckzuck wieder angelegt, was mir das umstellen an Blue-Ray-Player, receiver, Raspberry und und und erspart hat. Das Lokale Lan und WLan stand nach etwa 20 Minuten. Das WAN machte da schon deutlich mehr Probleme. Aber ich fasse mich mal kurz - denn eigentlich ist auch das Kinderkram. Nur nicht, wenn das DSL-Modem deutlich zu alt (und evtl defekt) ist. Der Nighthawk bekam zwar eine IP von Arcor - aber es kam nichts über die Leitung. Ein neues DSL Modem hat das nun auch behoben. <NACHTRAG 19.03.2014>Durch einen Kommentar wurde ich darauf Aufmerksam, das hier eine Information fehlt: Die Lösung brachte dieses DSL-Modem: http://www.amazon.de/D-Link-DSL-321B-EU-Ethernet-AnnexB/dp/B001DAS1VQ/ref=cm_cr-mr-title - durch den Wechsel auf ein Unity-Media Kabelmodem, ist dieses allerdings schon wieder obsolet. Näheres in der Rezension zum Modem. </NACHTRAG> Der Preis von 161.- geht absolut in Ordnung. Wenn der Router nun auch wieder 5-8 Jahre hält bin ich zufrieden. Kaufentscheidend war für mich die gute Abdeckung mit W-Lan sowohl im 2,4Ghz als auch im 5Ghz Bereich, sowie die komplette Ausstattung mit GigaBit Lan-Buchsen. Für den gehobenen Heimbereich dürfte es derzeit kaum was besseres geben. <NACHTRAG 19.03.2014> Inzwischen ist alles eingerichtet und ich bin rundherum zufrieden. Die W-Lan Abdeckung ist dermassen gut - und da die meisten unserer Geräte auch 5Ghz unterstützen - und schnell, das ich einige der verlegten Kabel-zur-temporären-Nutzung inzwischen abgebaut habe. Der Medien-Server ist eine Baustelle an der ich noch bastel - aber das ist für mich ohnehin sekundär. Was ich mir wünschen würde, wäre das man für das Gäste Netz einen eigenen IP-Rahmen einrichten kann. So wie die Software im Moment ist, erspart mir das Gäsetnetz zwar, jedem das Standard-Passwort zu geben, das Gästenetz hat ein eigenes und kann bei Bedarf zu oder abgeschaltet werden - aber die IPs sind im gleichen Subnetz, was den Gästen auch Zugriff auf den Rest vom netz ermöglicht. Das lässt sich nur mit Konfigurationsaufwand über beschränkung des DHCP Rahmens und feste IPs für die eigenen Geräte, nebst entsprechender Beschränkung durch Regeln gewährleisten. Ein zweites lokales Subnetz wäre viel einfacher ;-). Aber da netgear ja fleissig an der Firmware arbeitet und auch auf Kundenprobleme schnell reagiert, kommt da ja vielleicht noch was nach. Ich bin jedenfalls zuversichtlich. </NACHTRAG>

Nel passare dal wireless N all'AC ho deciso di passare da apparecchi combinati "modem-router" a router dedicati associandovi un modem ethernet. Ovviamente con questa soluzione si hanno due apparecchi da alimentare invece che uno, però credo che separare i due stati di rete sia una cosa positiva in quanto al variare della tecnologia lato WAN non è necessario sostituire anche la componente di routing che gestisce LAN e WLAN. Torniamo al prodotto: la configurazione è semplice, quasi plug & play. Il sw di netgear è veramente ben fatto e la mia esperienza è stata più che positiva. Accedendo alla GUI è possibile gestire le funzionalità più avanzate come ACL, routing tables, settaggi dei livelli di sicurezza per la parte wifi, QoS e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Senza descrivere le funzionalità nel dettaglio (ci vorrebbe una giornata), posso dirvi che le performance wireless sono eccezionali (con iphone 6 plus ho un link sui 5GHz s 433 Mbps !) ed il segnale è sempre al 100% in un trilocale che supera gli 80 Mq. Anche sui balconi esterni sempre il massimo del segnale. La rete a 2,4 GHz si comporta altrettanto bene. Al momento lato LAN ho collegato: - in wireless N un IPHONE 5, un GALAXY TAB 2.0, un PC DESKTOP con dongle linksys, un NOTEBOOK dell E5420, un MACBOOK MID 2009, un dongle CHROMECAST, una STAMPANTE CANON e per finire una IP CAMERA DLINK - in wireless AC un IPHONE 6 PLUS - via cavo un ONKYO TX-NR609, un MY SKY HD, una PS3 SLIM ed un TV sony HX800 tutti i dispositivi funzionano alla grande. Mai un problema. Personalmente l'ho accoppiato con un modem ethernet della zyxel (di cui sono altrettanto soddisfatto). Tra le funzioni supportate vi cito QoS, WPS, DIN DNS, VPN, UPNP, VPN, rotte statiche, port fowarding, gestione remota, IP V6 Una delle poche funzionalità che non ho ancora testato è quella di NAS e media server (è possibile collegare anche pendrive o HD USB3 sul frontale, inoltre supporta itunes server!), ma non mi aspetto problemi. Il software è maturo. Un paio di chicche: - La QoS prevede (se l'utente lo desidera) la regolamentazione della QoS upstream e downstream separate: per la parte upstream si lancia uno speedtest su ookla e impostando la banda massima in UP il firmware cerca di ottimizzare l'inoltro dei pacchetti cercando di fornire ping stabili a vantaggio di servizi che risentono dei vari LAG tipo gaming online, per la parte downstream invece è presente una funzionalità che permette di facilitare la gestione dei flussi video nel momento in cui il sito da cui stiamo riproducendo il flusso faccia parte dell'elenco di siti prestabilito (elenco che è possibile far si che si aggiorni in atomatico!). - è possibile configurare i LOG facendo in modo che solo alcune attività vengano tracciate e prevedente che ad orari prestabiliti vengano inoltrati al nostro indirizzo di posta - il router raccoglie statistiche sull'utilizzo di banda, alcuni valori sono customizzabili - è possibile disabilitare o modificare le regole di accenzione dei led frontali Tralasciando l'HW (di primo livello !) il SW è un valore aggiunto di questo router. Per i più esigenti, esiste comunque la possibilità di sostituire il FW originale (aggiornabile direttamente su dispositivo) passando a OPEN WRT o TOMATO. Al momento non ho trovato difetti se non nelle dimensioni abbastanza importanti (preferisco però qualche centimetro in più ma zero surriscaldamenti...). I took a chance, as any refurbished item can be a lemon, so far mine is doing amazing!! I Had an older router, that was having issues with keeping up. Little about my house: I am active PC online gamer, work; Zoom calls, two children who at times run their tablets, or nintendo switch. Plus a husband who runs his phone on WiFi (watching Videos) and the TV think Netflix. PRIOR: Any time I would play, or any of us who do any heavy computer activity, web calls, video chats, etc and someone else logged into the wifi one of us would freeze and be done. NOW: No problems, I can run my online game, and everyone can log into the wifi with no lag or freezing. Not even a small glitch to notice someone else is on. We are so happy about this purchase, no more taking turns or freezing screens! Has great range, we are a 3,000 Sqft, 2 story house. It is located in the office on the top floor middle of the house, and reaches to the pool in the backyard. If you install the nighthawk app you are able to see what devices are connected, and what channels. This router offers 3 channels, to connect to depending on what you are using etc. It also gives you the option to turn off any of the connected device. I am two weeks in, and have had no issues yet. Haven't even had to restart it. I also purchased the extra 4 year insurance plan in case there is any issues. Heck 4 years is a Long warranty, and with how fast technology comes out this may be a dinosaur by then. The image I am Attaching is a speed test connected to the wifi of this router.

So this just turned into an expensive paper weight, the app on the phone is terrible, always wants you to log in, then when you try it says improper credentials. Close the all, wait 10 mins repeat, it takes a few tries and then you can kind of navigate, and then it does it again, total waste of money
