Been using this scoop years. Never had one better or even close. This is 18/8 stainless steel or 304SS. This is solid chunk of stainless machined down. You could drive over it with semi truck and not hurt it. Though it might damage the rubber grip. The design of this is perfect for scooping ice cream. It goes through frozen ice cream easily. But nothing will go through rock hard ice cream. A trick to the rock hard stuff is microwave a cup of water put the scoop head in a minute or so and it will go through it easily. Reheating as needed. This scoop fills great in your hand. Cleaning is easy and stays new looking really nicely. No rust whatsoever. This thing will last a lifetime.

Glad I picked this up. I was getting tired of bending cheap spoons when scooping ice cream and was looking for a good ice cream scoop. I've tried others in the past that seemed like they were made of plastic and fell apart within a year. This is not that! My first impression right after opening it was how heavy and solid it was. Trust me, this thing isn't going to bend. I don't know exactly what metal it is made of, but it seems to be good quality. It has a brushed finish and is smooth to the touch. The edges are smooth, coming to a slight point in the front which helps it dig into the more "premium" ice creams which are usually more frozen solid. It makes a nice smooth scoop of ice cream and falls of into the cone or bowl without having to fight with it. No need for the release mechanisms like on some ice cream scoops. The rubberized handle is soft and smooth and you can easily keep a good grip on it. As far as cleaning goes, it's very easy. There are no ridges or designs on the handle for stuff to get stuck it, and the spot where the handle meets the scoop part looks to be sealed well to keep water out. I wasn't sure if I should pay $12 for an ice cream scoop, but after using it I am glad I did!

I have very high hopes for this ice cream scoop. I had used standard cookie scoops in the past, and they fall apart. A regular tablespoon bends from the hardness of the ice cream. I figured at this point in my life, I wanted a quality ice cream scoop that will last as long as I do. I believe this one is it. I was initially concerned about the handle because I did not want it cracking or falling off, but this one appears very secure and durable. The scoop has a nice heft to it, which suggests that it is quality-made. I haven't decided if I am going to put it in the dishwasher. Probably not. The price was far less than I expected. UPDATE MONTHS LATER: I caved, and I have been putting it in the dishwasher. It still looks as good and works as well as the day I bought it.

You can believe all the positive reviews about this scoop. I have purchased several over the years (including kitchen aid and Oxo) and this is the best. It makes dipping ice cream, no matter how firm, very easy. If you are in the market for one, you can’t go wrong with one of these.

Couldn't be better. I've never ever had a scoop anywhere near this one. The scoop spoon shape is perfect and the handle is thick and sturdy with a slip proof grip that makes it easy to dig deep into the ice cream right out of the freezer.

I love that this can go in the dishwasher. Super heavy duty and well made. Doesn’t scoop as well on super cold ice cream as one I had in the past that couldn’t go in the dishwasher. Just have to let the ice cream sit for a bit before using.

As a former ice cream store manager, it's probably safe to say I've scooped more ice cream than a lot of people. In my scooping experience, the key(s?) is 3 things 1) metal scooping head. You don't want plastic, you don't want that clear plastic that looks like crap after 2 weeks of use. you also don't want a handle that is only plastic, where the weight distribution is all off. Thanos would not approve. 2) a heavy and simple. you don't want thin metal that can bend, and you don't want something that has gears and whatever. stuff gets stuck and it's hard to clean. the scraping mechanism can get screwed up, and the scraping metal is thin, and can get warped. Eventually gears will get all gunky and then you'll have to throw it out, especially the ones that are not meant to be disassembled. 3) WATER. wet the scooper between every scoop. If the ice cream is rock hard though, you're pretty much SOL until it melts a little or you get creative and use a cleaver (also wetted). While this doesn't solve #3, this does solve 1 and 2. there is probably a better scooper out there, but this is more than good enough for most people i would imagine. It's easy to clean, will probably never warp under normal usage, and has done an admirable job. Now if someone would just make an ice cream scooper attachment for my oscillating multitool then i think this will be dethroned. but until then... Happy scooping!

I have been through so many ice cream scoopers over the years and could never find one that was just right. They're usually the ones that you squeeze and they would do the job but they would never last. My mother-in-law has a very old copper one that doesn't have all the mechanics and whenever we go to her house and have ice cream I always think it's the best type and wished I could find one. So I started searching and since it was old and an antique I couldn't find one like it. So I went to my always go to trusted Amazon. And I'm glad I did because I found this one .I figured it would be a lot better than all the ones that break because of the spring or whatever would go wrong with them. So after reading all the reviews and going through tons of them in my basket to go over again and review myself and it being a little more expensive than I thought I wanted to spend it's was well worth it. It's the best ice cream scoop I've ever used. Very sturdy looks like it will last for years , but not too heavy to handle. It's just perfect. One thing that was very important to me when I was reading the reviews was getting 100% stainless steel. After reading so many reviews of some that I thought were prettier with a cool colored handle or something that I would really like I saw that they were Chrome plated and the Chrome chipped off or become pitted and I definitely didn't want that. That's why I decided to spend a little more than some that I saw for very cheap that were prettier and I'm very very pleased that I ended up with this one. It actually looks like and old retro one they would maybe use in an old timey ice cream parlor. I think that's why I was looking at some of the ones with the Retro colored handles but sometimes that draws us in when were looking for something old-fashioned. But they're usually not made as well as things from the old days when people really cared about the quality of their work. This one is definitely made well. I highly recommended it especially if you're trying to find a good quality one this is is the one. Go for it you won't regret it when you scoop that first scoop!😋

Bought a few of these now and they are brilliant. If you are sick of trying to scoop very cold ice cream straight from the freezer, this is the tool for you. Superb.

The product i received is a fake black scoop, not a Balci one: No lable on the handle - poorly fitting rubber grip.

Very sturdy and useful

This scoop looks good and does the job, but using it, it doesn’t feel balanced - it is really light in the handle and heavy in the scoop. A pity because I love icecream and was super excited when I bought it.

We can now ditch the bent spoon and scoop ice cream without inflicting pain. A quality item - always buy quality. Buy once, not twice: you won't regret it.
