We ordered this Melissa & Doug giant giraffe to decorate our son‘s first birthday party, which had a safari theme, and it did a great job! It looked absolutely beautiful and we received many, many compliments from our guests on how impressive it looked. Now, it sits in my son‘s playroom as a gorgeous decor piece, and my son really loves it! It is tall, sturdy, and well-made, making it perfect for both party decorations and everyday room decor. I highly recommend it if you want a high-quality, eye-catching piece for a safari theme or a playroom!

My 21 year-old daughter has wanted this Melissa and Doug giraffe since she was a little bitty thing. She’s graduating college and doing student teaching now. This is her last semester and hopefully she will have her own classroom soon!! She also recently married and we are four hours apart. When I saw her, I thought that’s the perfect gift for my daughter classroom. She was thrilled when she was delivered. She’s actually more beautiful in person. Her quality is amazing!! We absolutely love this Melissa & Doug giraffe. We’ve had it for about 3 years now, and my toddler still plays with it. The quality is noticeably better than many of the similar plush animals I’ve seen in stores. It feels sturdy, stands well on its own, and has held up really nicely over time despite years of use. It’s also large enough to make a big impact in a room without feeling cheaply made. My toddler even likes pretending to ride it sometimes (with help from my husband), and it has stayed stable through all the play. We currently keep it in his safari-themed room, where it works both as a toy and as cute room decor. Keep in mind: because of the size, it does take up a noticeable amount of space, so it works best in larger nurseries or playrooms. Best for: safari/jungle-themed nurseries, baby shower gifts, or toddlers who enjoy imaginative animal play.

I should admit that I didn't buy this item as a toy but rather as the basis for a Halloween costume. I intended to wear the head as a mask and attach the other parts of the body to myself as a makeshift giraffe costume. I'm about 6'3" and can say that it worked out quite nicely. What I found from dismantling it, though, may be useful to those buying it as a toy. I cut it up along the stitches which happened to be like one would dress the cape of an animal. It was stuffed tightly and the stitches took some work in most places since they weren't overly exposed and blended well. I imagine it would be hard to pull any strings out accidentally. More than that, the 'fur' was clean and even rustling it around didn't leave much if any mess behind. The outfit got tugged on quite a bit over the night, too, the places I didn't unstitch on purpose stayed together, and the aesthetic elements such as the mane and the face took a beating without a problem. Internally the workmanship was just as thoughtful. The whole thing stands up because of a wire frame that extends up through the head, down into each limb and reinforced in the back. It took an incredible effort pulling the wire out of the legs as they seemed to be either sewn inside or bunched up to prevent the wire frame from moving and/or the legs becoming accidentally torn off. I didn't try sitting on the frame when it was all together (I weigh about 175 lbs) but suspect it would have held up rather well, which bodes well for the load of a toddler or child who'd want to jump on. Also, the wire is wrapped in plastic and doubled up in each part (neck, limbs) so that there are no ends poking out where the wire extends. If in some fluke occurrence a part of the wire did come exposed, it's not going to easily injure anyone. The part where it's reinforced on the back does have some bolting that's a bit sharper, but one would have to get through almost a foot of stuffing from the belly to ever land on it in the wrong way. I'm a sucker for stuffed animals, and while this one will never be the same even if I did try to put it back together, I can say that if I ever have kids and come across this toy or a kind with similar quality I'd add it to their room in a second.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 4 1/2 year old daughter who is obsessed with giraffes and feeding them at the zoo and the look on her face when she opened it was priceless! The giraffe is incredibly well made and though you can see some of the seams, none of the stitching is coming apart and he's so lifelike, even down to the eyelashes and horns. I loved that he looked so real compared to the Toys R Us version or the FAO Schwartz version, which both had creepy faces and looked cheap. He's over 4 feet tall, so you'll need room to display him. The fur is so soft and inside of his legs there are heavy duty metal wires to keep him standing up straight. My daughter has attempted to ride him/sit on him and I usually try to discourage that because over time the wires will get bent from her weight and he won't be able to stand properly. We've also enjoyed staging some funny photos with him. If you have a giraffe lover or are planning a safari themed nursery, this is a perfect addition. He's become a member of the family haha. The quality is well worth the price!

I bought this giraffe with the intent of wrapping it with christmas lights and having it be a lamp and conversation piece for my apartment living room. It came in the mail in a huge box and was the most exciting thing I got sent to me in a long time. This thing is awesome! There isn't much to be said about it -- it's a huge plush giraffe. It has a wire in its neck and legs for flexibility, although it isn't extremely flexible. The legs and neck were strong enough to support the weight of my two crazy kittens who used Lilith (my giraffe) as a climbing post. It's not something you usually see, a giant giraffe stuffed animal in a college student's apartment, so it definitely added a fun vibe to my living situation with my roommates and when we had guests over. People are always a mixture of weirded out and relaxed by Lilith's presence. It tells them that there's a kid in my soul and that I'm not ashamed to have such a childish thing on display. It allows for a conversation about interesting things the other person collects or has in their apartment. Ultimately I did wrap lights around her body and neck but found it all got tangled and would slide down and not look very great. At one point, I used her body as a starting point and wrapped the lights around the living room, which was nice. Since I've moved out of my apartment and back home temporarily, she has taken up residence by my snake's tank and now has a new purpose -- snake post while I clean his tank. He likes to wrap around her antler-things and ears while I clean his tank, and it provides a very exotic feel to the area around his tank. All in all, this was a great purchase. The most pointless yet well-spent $60 in my young adult lifetime.

This is such a well-made and impactful piece that I bought it twice as a nursery gift for new moms. It is a show stopper for any nursery that will last until the child's toddler years and beyond.

I bought this for my Grandson and he loves it

This was a present for my wife, the proverbial”mad giraffe lady”. It is much, much nicer than I expected it to be. It is nearly as tall as my wife, is very good quality, well made and very good looking to the point of being handsome. He (and I won’t go in to how she knows he is he) is now called Ozzy (apparently the things on his head are ossicones, mind you I am a little ashamed to admit that I know that) and takes centre stage in our house. It was worth every penny, my wife loves it and I earned well over 37 billion browny points for getting it for her.

Mi hija decidió que de regalo de Reyes Magos quería una jirafa de peluche. Y nos puso a buscarla por todos lados. Para nuestra fortuna Amazon tiene esta, que está preciosa. La marca Melissa & Doug ha sido en general garantía de calidad y no dejó nada que desear. Y mide 1.20 mt! Yo pensé que sería más un adorno que un juguete real debido a su tamaño, pero mi hija se divierte mucho jugando con ella, llevándola de un lado a otro de la casa (es un buen esfuerzo para ella que mide como 1.16 mt), y corriendo y pasando por debajo de la jirafa. Ya que es un muñeco "alto y delgado" creo que estorba menos que un oso de peluche del mismo tamaño. Si uno tiene un fanático de las jirafas en casa, difícilmente habrá un mejor regalo que este.
