They are the least material I'm comfortable wearing on public beaches, which is perfect for me. Way more comfortable than trunks. I like the blue water print because it seems least likely that someone will think I'm wearing underwear. I've now got 6 different variants swim briefs, these are my favorite.

Fits bigger people
This fits me pretty well. I tip the scales at about 300 pounds, so most Speedo style suits don't come in my size. This one is a little snug (XXL), but I'd say it fits OK, which is a win. The back has good coverage, but the front pouch is a little more narrow than I would have preferred.
