Snow White directed by and starring Moroni Olsen and Pinto Colvig, is an animation movie depicting the life of Snow White—a fairy in all her beauty and splendour. The movie describes Snow White as the most beautiful queen in the kingdom, who is made to work like a maid by her wicked step mother, for she is jealous of her unred beauty. She devises plans to kill her in order to regain the glory of being the most beautiful woman, but never succeeds. The fantasy tale talks of Magic Mirror, Poisoned Apple, Seven Dwarfs, and such objects creating a sense of excitement and curiosity in children and bringing in fanfare from all sections of the audience. The story begins when the Queen of the kingdom gives birth to a girl with face as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. The girl is henceforth named Snow White. The King marries another Queen, who turns out to be wicked and instigating, as Snow White’s mother dies soon after her birth. As Snow White grows, she starts showing her charming features, much to the envy of the Queen, who is extremely jealous of White’s beauty and apprehend losing the crown of beauty to her. She asks her Magic Mirror — a special mirror which never lies — to declare the most beautiful woman and is shocked to hear it procl Snow White to be thousand times more beautiful than her. Burning out of envy, she devises numerous plans to kill her including sending her to forests and getting her killed by a huntsman. He leaves her without killing out into the forests, thinking that she would be killed by wild animals. But she is sheltered by seven dwarfs who agrees to protect her if she attends to their household affairs. The wicked queen is shocked at the mirror’s proclamation of being seconded by Snow White in beauty as she is still alive. Infuriated at the loss, she plans to kill Snow White with a poisoned apple when she arrives at the cottage, disguised as a farmer’s wife. Snow White faints on eating the apple but is again saved. This time she is saved by her lover, a prince who kisses her, bringing her back to life as they start living together happily ever after. Snow White (2005) was released by Disney Studios in DVD format. It has a run time of 79 minutes. It has a U rating.
